Four legs good

Sir: Jeffrey Bernard told us (Low life, 15 June) that his advanced state of decay forces him to buy a walking-stick, two being perfect support were it not for their impediment to the carrying of a shopping- bag. To Mr Bernard I recommend an aluminium walking-frame. He would find it serviceable in every way: non-slip grey rubber feet; moulded hand-grips of grey plastic; crossbar from which to hang the shopping-bag; unable to wield it when in an access of bad temper.
