Unhelpful indignity

Sir: Whether Nigel Farndale's description of me as an expert for the Daily Mail is meant as a compliment or an affront (Be a consti- tutional expert', 20 July) I guess I would have heard about the position had I ever filled it. I'm certainly not prepared to accept the indignity without the emoluments. Rodney Barker
