Great expectations

From Mr David Banks Sir: Peter °borne (Minority pursuits', 20 July) suggests that the selection of a pregnant candidate would show that the Conservative party had really turned the corner.

On Saturday, Portsmouth South Conservatives selected Caroline Dinenage, who is six months pregnant. She is the daughter of television presenter Fred Dinenage.
