Mugabe's apologist
From Mr Stephen M. Lark
Sir: Nicholas van Hoogstraten has been convicted of manslaughter, after two men he sent to beat up a business adversary, Mohammed Raja, caused his death. He has previous convictions for violence towards his tenants, including a handgrenade attack, and had accrued fines of £86,000 for building a barbed-wire fence over a public footpath.
I happen to recall that a Mr Nicholas van Hoogstraten wrote in your letters column
last summer accusing the media of biased reporting of the Mugabe regime. I do not happen to think that I speak of two different people, and cannot fail to notice the similarity between Mr van Hoogstraten's conduct and that of Zimbabwe's `war veterans', for whom he is such a craven and shameless apologist.
