Memorials of St. Margaret's Church, Westminster. By A. M. Burke.
(Eyre and Spottiswoode. 42s. net.)—This is the first volume of a valuable addition to the literature of parish registers. It was inspired by the Dean of Durham when he was Rector of St. Margaret's. The present volume contains a carefully edited list of christenings, weddings, and burials at that church from 1539 (when the existing registers were begun) to 1660. Such work as Mr. Burke is doing, whilst it does not lend itself to detailed criticism, must always be of value to the historian.
