THIS is an invaluable compilation both for pleasure and business

travellers. For the lingering tourist, however, it

needs supplementing with the Ordnance Survey maps and with local guides. But as a guide to the general anatomy of our country it is a masterpiece of method and organization. In drawing the plans, as in compiling the itineraries, the anonymous school of authors has spared no pains to show not merely the main, but also the best routes. In particular it has sought to meet the motorist's greatest need ; and that is, a guide to the negotiation of large and busy towns. It is one thing to plunge into these hives, but it is often quite another problem how to get out of them without wasting time and temper. Excellent plans are provided of those towns which are the worst offenders, and special attention is given to London. The sectional maps at the end of the book are clearly printed.
