The Eastbourne by-election, caused by Sir George Lloyd's appointment as
High Commissioner in Egypt, resulted last week in the return of another Unionist, Sir Reginald Hall, who so greatly distinguished himself as Director of Naval Intelligence during the War. On a poll in which about 4000 less votes were recorded than at the General Election the figures were :- Vice-Adm. Sir R. Hall (U.) ..
12,741 Mr. Harcourt Johnstone (L.) 5,386 Lieut.-Col. T. S. B. Williams (Lab.) 3,696 Unionist majority .. 7,355
Oldham has returned another Liberal in the place of Sir Edward Grigg. Mr. Wiggins supported by the Conservatives received a majority of 4,623 votes over his Labour opponent.
