Old bore's corner

Sir: Mr Taki Theodoracopulos (High life, 20 June) finds it appropriate that Cliveden should be the scene for Sir James Gold- smith's recent party, on the grounds that, the house was built by the Duke '31 Buckingham. One might add that it is interesting that the house which has played host to Lady Astor and her appeaser friends and later Mr Stephen Ward and his high class tarts should now welcome Sir James and his distinguished guests Lord Weidenfeld, Nigel Dempster and Taki.
