The Puritans and the Tithes. By the late Rev. T.

Hancock. (S.P.C.K. 6d.)—This pamphlet is published by the Church Defence Committee. The point is the emphasising of the dis- tinction between the Nonconformists proper and the Separatists. The former were advocates of tithes ; the latter were hostile to them. Doubtless this distinction has been often lost sight of, Nonconformists and Separatists being confounded together under the common name of Dissenters. The tone of the pamphlet is not very pleasing, but it effectively corrects a common error.
