Textile Fabrics. By the Very Rev. Daniel Rock, D.D. (Chapman
and Hall.)—The first of a series of hand-books issued by the authorities of the South Kensington Museum, and reprinted from the prefaces.of their catalogues. The greater part of this number is devoted to the history and description of various silk fabrics of the middle-ages, and the characteristics of the different centres of manufacture throughout the world. The remainder treats of tapestry, carpets, linen, and very briefly of cotton. Dr. Rock has produced a book which, although a little wanting in method, is full of cations research, and will be worth Perusal by.all who are interested in English mediaeval literature and antiquities.
