The Five Principles
Sir: Why should Rhodesia be the only country asked to accept the Five Principles, none of which are observed by her main critics — the Afro-Asian nations and the Communists? I wish our government would insist on the Five Principles in Britain where they would be more appropriate.
1. We do not have majority rule. The majority do not wish to be bounced into the Common Market.
2. The majority of us would like guarantees against retrogressive amendments to the Constitution under the Treaty of Rome.
3. We should like improvement in political status of the people to prevent being treated in this fashion again.
4. Most of us would like a curb on the race relations industry which appears to discriminate against the indigenous people of this country. 5. We should like a settlement of these matters which would be acceptable to us as a whole. Robert Copping 4 Ronald Hill Grove, Leigh-on-Sea, Essex
