Sir: The symptoms described by P. J. Kavanagh (Postscript, 8 September) raised runs, no molehills — suggest that voles, and not moles, are molesting him and his lawn. Shops here sell small, plastic, tube-like contraptions with inward- opening trapdoors at both ends, to be buried in the runs. The animals are caught' and can be dispatched, according to your Personal inclinations either dead or alive, to some other place. I caught about a dozen last winter and got rid of the pest.
