Perhaps its general scope may be best under- stood from chaps. 18 arid 19, "The Finding of Dates by Solstitial" and by "Stellar Alignments." An avenue points to the rising of the sun, or of some conspicuous star. We see where the sun or star rises now, and infer the date from the difference.
