AN APOLOGY.

In our issue of June 5, 1971, we published an article by Mr Tony Palmer in the column Notes from the Underground which whilst being primarily a comment upon a periodical called Time Out made derogatory and quite baseless statements concerning the periodical entitled What's On, and in particular Mr Palmer's article said "It (meaning Time Out) has almost completely superseded the ageing (many would say defunct) What's On . . ." and concluded with the quite gratuitous observation "Thanks to it, . . • (naming periodicals) and the rest have been made to look what they are; clapped-out dandies in search of a fix."

We are asked by the Proprietors and Publishers of What's On to publish this apology for the statements which have been made, and we are reminded that far from being moribund the magazine What's On has been published regularly now for the past 36 years, and is in fact a flourishing and forward-looking periodical with a young staff, and brings to its readers a complete picture of London with all its many forms of diverse entertainment. We apologise to the publishers and staff of What's On for Mr Palmer's baseless and completely inaccurate observations.
