THE REPORT THAT Lieutenant Moorhouse had been killed by his
captors cut across the Christmas news bulletins like a blunt saw. We should, I suppose, be relieved that there have been so few ugly incidents of this kind; but I suspect that this case will do more to revive resentment against Egypt than all the humiliations of the withdrawal. In the circumstances the letter in this issue from Mr. Czeslaw Jesman should be a corrective--a reminder that not all the blame lies with the Egyptians,
