SIR,—Tertullian, in his earlier and milder mood, wrote (Contra Gentiles, Lib. I): "Non est religionis cogere religionem."
Considerable acquaintance with- the work of Service chaplains at first hand leads me to suggest that his words, though written in a different context, have their cogency today.—Yours faithfully,
