NEWS OF THE WEEK.
AMILITARY disaster has befallen our Russian Allies. That is a plain fact, and it would be absurd to try to explain it away or pretend that it makes no difference to us. A grave and unexpected' disappointment, however, is the very occasion to hold ourselves together and double our efforts. We have turned many corners in the war very much more awkward than this ono. It is the duty of ourselves, the French, the Americans, and the Italians to swear now that we will redeem the misfortune. We can if we will. We are by no means without hope that Russia will recover herself, but we must act as though we could not reckon on a recovery.
