A reader who is troubled by weeds in his lawn
asks me what he can do about it. Weeds can be dug out at any season and there is no other satisfactory way for things such as dandelion, but providing the soil is not sour —and this is the governing factor—lawn sand is a good remedy. This p-eparation contains sulphate of ammonia and sulphate of iron and will turn the grass brown at first, but"common weeds cannot withstand it and the grass will flourish after treatment which should be at about a quarter of a pound to the square yard.
