[TO THE EDITOR OF THE "SPECTATOR.") SIR, —I have seen to-day the letter (under the above heading) in the Spectator of September 14, mentioning that the Leicestershire word " kid " is equivalent to "wood (for fuel)."

Some of your readers may be curious about its etymology. To the Welsh word "coed," "wood," I would trace this word, as. well as the first syllable in " Kiddington " (formerly " Cuden- ton "), a name of a village about five miles north of this village.—
