On Wednesday the Stock Exchange Committee gave notice that permission
to deal in Drapery Trust Preference shares was suspended until further notice, but that dealings in Drapery Trust Ordinary shares might be resumed. The reason for the continued ban on Drapery Trust Preference shares is said to be that some banks and financial houses are in possession of irregular transfers. On the same day Mr. Russell's firm of stock- brokers announced that they could not meet their obligations. Mr. Russell, it will be remembered, was the representative of the Porchester Trust, Ltd., whom Mr. Hatry and his colleagues are charged with defrauding.
