Irish, English

From professor John Vaizey Sir: Whatever else it does, being born in Dublin of Irish parents does not make you English, which is what Mr Enoch Powell said that the Duke of Wellington was. The Duke might have liked to have been an Englishman, and he had many English virtues, but he was Irish. What variety of Irishman he was is a different question on which I, as an Englishman, would not venture an opinion.
