The Liberal electors of Chippenham are doing a wise thing.
They have formed a strong Association to put down intimidation and bribery, the members of which pledge themselves to vote for no candidate who resorts to undue influence of any kind. The Association, moreover, will inquire into every case of intimidation, and give the actors in it the benefit of the fullest publicity. If the Liberals in every county would do the same thing, we should hear a great deal less alike of landlord influence and of the ballot, to which, we regret to observe, almost every Liberal candidate is pledging himself.
