Australian socialists
Sir: I wonder if Mr. Laverick (Spectator June 8, 1974) has had second thoughts about the absence of ideological socialism in the plans of the Australian government now that a left-wing extremist has been made Deputy Prime Minister.
Another example of such thought, which has probably received little publicity in the United Kingdom, is the systematic attempt to strangle private medical practice in the Australian Capital Territory. More expert pens than mine would be needed to tell the full story. Perhaps your able medical correspondent could look into the matter.
