The Transport Continuum

SIR,—Your motoring contributor, Oliver Stewart, complains of the din and stink of the modern diesel bus, especially when one is near a bus stop. He continues: 'I refuse to believe that it is not possible today to make a London bus which would be quiet, clean and smooth-running and so better suited to crowded streets and the ill-ventilated canyons between close-clustered buildings.' We did have them —from 1931 until 1962. Where are the trolley buses of yesteryear? 0 Progress—what crimes are committed in thy name!
