Spectator's Notebook

GREETINGS to a new Spectator. I have just been reading the first edition of the monthly journal of that name published in Eastern Nigeria. The editor prints some impressive good- will messages from ministers and other notables in Nigeria. I hope mine is not too late.

Our Spectator cannot, I fear, match-the cover- age of the newcomer. We have nothing on fashions, cabarets, magic or snakes, but we share a common interest in what's happening in Rho- desia and Vietnam. In particular, I applaud warmly the sentiments of the editorial, which includes a kindly reference to ourselves. The policy of the paper is firmly laid down: `we shall always call a spade a spade no matter whose ox is gored.' And so shall we.
