The Spectator
announces another fiendish Treasure Hunt
In keeping with the tradition of recent years, the Spectator is launching — in the 13 October issue — another extremely difficult reader competition. Unlike the games of chance to be found in other journals, the Spectator Treasure Hunt will demand skill, ingenuity and know- ledge. Dictionaries, lexicons, the complete works of poets and playwrights, rare copies of minor classics and a thorough grounding in Latin will assist competitors.
The rules themselves are quite simple. Each week for nine weeks readers will be asked a question in three parts. The answers to the first two parts will form an anagram of the name of the place which is the answer to the third part of each question. At the end of the competition the nine correct place names will form the clue to the address that will lead the winners to their rewards.
Needless to say, the value and desirability of the prizes will match the skills required to solve the competition. Details will be revealed next week — meanwhile take note and don't miss the 13 October issue of the Spectator.
