There was an excellent race yesterday for Doggett's mat and

badge. Six men took part in the contest. Joseph Cobb, of Greenwich, was first to reach the goal at Chelsea; Joseph Gillett, of Greenwich, was second; George White, of Custom- house stairs, third.
