We are happy to learn from the Standard of this

evening, that it is the intention of Government to reduce the tax upon Advertisements from 3s. 6d. to Is. We are persuaded that the revenue will riot suffer much from this alteration ; while tradesmen in general, and especially those who are engaged in the bookselling business—a branch of trade which is at present grievously depressed—would reap considerable be- - nefit from it.
