THE BOYCOTT OF THE WORD "ENGLISH."
[To TIM EDITOS or THY ••erarraron."] SIR,—Your correspondent Mr. C. R. Hahne protests in your last issue against the use of the word " British." The usage depends upon nothing more sacred than an international treaty. The first clause of the Act of Union of 1707 runs : " That the two kingdoms of Scotland and England shall upon the 1st day of May next ensuing, be united into one kingdom by the name of Great Britain."—I am, Sir, &c.,
