The serious crime
Sir: There has been a great deal of sYmpathetic comment on the unfortunate Lords Lambton and Jellicoe. As a General Staff Officer I once defended two junior officers who were court inartialled for being found in an outof-bounds area, specifically a brothel. The facts could not be refuted and they were severely reprimanded. This sentence most certainly would affect their future in the regular army. .1 therefore cannot weep too many bitter tears over the 'tragic' fate of Lords Lambton and Jellicoe. They are experienced adults in privileged Positions and the recipients of inherited wealth. It seems bizarre that they could not use this social position and Wealth to find suitably discreet enthusiastic amateurs to satisfy all their sexual needs.
If these gentry therefore want to Spend their money and time paying for it in a cathouse, they do so knowing the risks.
They have committed one of the two most serious crimes in our glorious civilisation — being found Out. The second serious crime of haying no money, influence or social position, is one which they are spared. I therefore wish their Lordships luck Without the slightest grain of sympathy.
