Wraiths of Raith
Sir: Mr Yerrill's answer to Frank Keating's question about the football club Queen of the South reminds me of another confu- sion over the whereabouts of a Scottish club.
Some years ago, at the end of a match won by Raith Rovers, the excited commen- tator was stirred to forecast that 'they'll be dancing in the streets of Raith tonight'. They may have danced in Kirkcaldy, Fife, where the team has its home ground, but the celebrations in Raith could have taken place (with wraith-like figures?) only in the commentator's fevered imagination — for no such place is to be found on a map.
