The dwarfs of Lime Grove
Sir: Yvonne Brock in her letter to you (18 April) says—'What matters in broadcasting is not whether programmes are left, right or centre or "clean" or "dirty"; these are wholly inadequate criteria. What matters is that the broadcasting authority in its search for the truth remains independent and impervious to political or commercial pressures, and that it stimulates the imagina- tion of its public by producing genuinely creative programmes.'
Is she saying that political bias cannot co- exist with a search for truth? And if political bias does exist, should not representations be made? And if representations are made, should they not be examined and, if well founded, should not action be taken?
