An Anthology of Babyhood. Edited by Muriel Nelson d'Auvergne. Illustrated

by T. J. and E. A. Overnell. (Hutchinson and Co. 3s. 6d. net.)—We commend the editor's cheerful resolve to make this "a book of the joy of babyhood," and to "shut out all epitaphs, elegies, and poems on sick or dying children." The pieces, both prose and verse, are chiefly modern, though there are a few old ones too, such as Sir Philip Sydney's delightful child song. Several good translations from the French are also included, and though we agree with the editor in thinking that the originals would have been out of place in the text of an English book, wo should have liked to see them in a note or an appendix.
