NEWS OF THE WEEK.

"He is come to liath, he is passed through Migron ; at Mich/mash he layeth up his baggage :

They are gone over the pass ; they have taken up their lodging at Geba : Ramesh trembleth ; Gibeah of Saul is fled.

Madmenah is a fugitive; the inhabitants of Gebim gather themselves to flee.

This very day shall he halt at Nob : he shaketh his hand at the mount of the daughter of Zion, the hill of Jerusalem.

Behold, the Lord, the Lord of Hosts, shall lop the boughs with terror : and the high ones of stature shall be hewn down, and the lofty shall be brought low.—Isaisu z. 28-83.

THE words of the greatest, not only of Hebrew but of all

poets, in their swiftness and vividness sound like a forecast of the telegrams that have stunned all Europe during the past week. We have but to substitute the Turkish for the Hebrew names. Just as at Jerusalem, so now at Constantinople one terror cornea " huddling on another." " The Burden of Turkey" is sounding in our ears.
