An insult too far

Sir: Some two years ago, when one of your contributors referred disparagingly to the proud national cry of the Cornish (Oggie, oggie!), I, in emulation of our revered his- torian and liberal A.L. Rowse, refrained from comment. However, I cannot allow to pass, without expressing my indignation, shared, I am sure, by all Cornishmen, the insult to our national emblem that appeared in your issue of 12 August.

John Glashan, in his usually admirable cartoon, represented the Cornish pasty upside down. I am sure you will apologise to all your many readers among my country- men for allowing this gross lapse from good taste to appear in your journal.
