Hardwicke.)--The author calls these "first fruits," and certainly they have not much flavour. In preference, however, to criticism we shall give our readers one of Mr. Hill's effusions entire, its length fortunately enabling us to do so. The subject is "Morning," and the poem is as follows :—

"One old shrimper shrimping out in the morning sea ;

He knows nought about morning—no, not he—

Where, 0 where, can the glorious morning be ?"
