Glenwahra ; or, the Western Highlands. By Sir Randal Roberts,
Bart. (Chapman and Hall.)—This is a book in season. One might not have the heart to real it at Christmas when the summer holiday seems infinitely far off, but now it is welcome. It has some good advice to give to the few who have the moans of hiring shootings and fishing; and some, too, more generally useful for the many who reckon the money they have to spend on these sports, not by hundreds, but by tens. Salmon, trout, and sea-fishing (this last a fine sport, which is not so much appreciated as it should be), deer-stalking, grouse, black game, and wild-fowl shooting, and other like matters are dealt with by a man who evidently knows what he is writing about, and knows also how to manage his pen. We have read his book with pleasure, and close it with regret. The Highlands are delightful, but, alas ! non cuivis con- tingit adire.
