Specimens of Early English, Selected from the Chief English Authors,

A.D. 1250—A.D. 1400. By R. Morris Esq. (Oxford : Clarendon Press.) —Wordsworth censured the Johnsonian collection of the English Poets for not beginning with Chaucer. This volume ends with Chaucer, or rather with Gower. It includes some works which are known to the general reader by name, and many which are not known to him by sight. With the help of Mr. Morris he may considerably extend his former acquaintance.
