Sheik Hassan, the Spiritualist. By S. A. Hillam. (W. H.
Allen and Co.)—This is a curious story of crime and of necromancy. The evocations practised by the Sheik are very grim scenes indeed. The Sheik, poor man, does not appear, for all his spiritualistic power, to have been successful. He could call up the spirits of the past and of the future. But he could not secure his own happiness, or even his own life. Doubtless that is a lesson worth learning.
