Classless method
Sir: I very much enjoyed Digby Ander- son's article on mail-order food (26 Janu- ary) in which he proved by Mr Waugh's example that one need not refrain from buying by mail order because of its associa- tion with the lower classes.
I belong to the lower classes myself — in fact, the undeserving poor — but I by no means approve of our habits, and had had the gravest misgivings about sending my mail-order subscription to The Spectator. So you can imagine my relief when it was pointed out that the method of purchase is not necessarily contaminated just because someone like me uses it.
