A CORRECTION.

[To THE EDITOR OF THE " SPECTATOR." I

SIR,—" The King sent books to Oxford." I only quote from memory, but I am certain of the lines as I knew them when a boy ; also of the lines of the first epigram, making Cambridge the " loyal body." I think the King was either William III. or George I. The reply was (from Cambridge) : " The King to Oxford sent a troop of horse, For Tories own no-argument but force; With equal care to Cambridge books he sent, For Whigs allow no force but argument."
