Snt,—It is unfortunate that Janus selected the sermon by Dr.
Marcus James for deprecating comment, and permitted himself the suggestion that " no doubt the gospel was preached much more than was reported." The implied opposition between the preaching of the Gospel and down- right denunciation of racial prejudice does not exist. Denunciation of current prejudices as it is found in the New Testament is trenchant beyond anything that is likely to be heard in St. Paul's.—I am, Sir, [What was criticised was the denunciation from St. Paul's pulpit not of a policy, but of a person.—Ed.
