LONDON'S WESTERN EXITS

[To the Editor of THE SeEcraroa.] Sett,—Unless " Janus " is without eyes in either head, his pen has run away with him. —Derelict," he says, is Western Avenue and devastating " the Great West Road.

What nice derangement of epitaphs... Western Avenue by day shows a succession of charming vistas and pleasing architecture. How nice nice factories can look. The road is the last word in safety and convenience----one-way traffic, no side turnings, tracks for cyclists, no speed limit.

The population is suitable and appreciative without being congested. The Great West Road by night is a most beautiful exit from London, a fairyland of coloured lighting. Whistler coukl have painted it. 1 drive both roads daily.- —

[Janus writes : " My reference to Western Avenue is now only a dim memory. But derelict-us means abandoned, and Western Avenue was long left unfinished. As for the Great West Road, I can well believe that it is less repulsive in the dark."]
