seem sensible, and on the whole, orthodox. The " Bank Manager " is a strong advocate for "ono-pound notes," which, ho truly says, avoid the expense that attends on the woar and tear of gold currency. He would not probably condescend to notice the argument that they bocome, if one may judge from what we experience in Scotland, exceedingly dirty and disagreeable. There are some observations on the general subject of the issue of notes, advocating "Consol notes," issued on the impurity of Government stock ; country notes, as ho very truly remarks, have no security except the credit of the bankers.
