The Ashridge Affair
SIR,—Has Lord Davidson's conduct of the Ashridgc affair the approval of Conservative headquarters, and, if so, have the said authorities realised what a serious loss of votes may follow at the coming General Election ? Not very long ago most educated people in the U.S.A. seldom took part in politics owing to their disgust with the party machines. We should beware lest we, too, relapse into a similar regrettable outlook.—Yours
