Credit where it's due

Sir: If your correspondent Stephen Glover (Media studies, 24 January) really believes Master MacKenzie was a brilliant headline- writer on the Sun, he chose two unfortu- nate examples.

The headline `Gotcha' was in fact written by Wendy Henry, subsequently dispatched to America by Robert Maxwell for printing a photograph of a scion of the House of Windsor urinating in public.

The legend, Will the last person to leave please turn out the lights' was in fact devised by the trade associations of grocers and greengrocers in protest at government policy. The posters appeared ten years ago in shop windows all over the country. Ronald Spark
