The Falkland Islands

Sir: You printed on 17 July a letter from Mr R.E.G. Simmerson alleging that the Foreign and Commonwealth Office had destroyed papers relevant to the work of the Falklands Review Committee. There is no truth in these allegations. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office has taken steps to ensure that all papers relevant to the Falklands issue will be available to Lord Franks and his colleagues. We welcome the Review and will give the Committee every assistance.
