ON Monday last, a labouring man named Cosby was fully committed to Dover Gaol, charged with cruelty to his daughter, a girl about fourteen years of age. He kept her upon a very short allowance of bread and water, chained by the leg to an old bedstead, upwards of nine weeks, till she was discovered on Saturday last in a most emaciated state. Previous to his being taken into custody, a number of women took the unnatural parent to the sea, and gave him a severe ducking.
