PARISIAN THEATRICALS.
Madame George Sand has been turning her celebrated novel of Mau- prat into a five-act play ; and it has been produced with great success at the Odeon,—a theatre which, like the Gymnase, has for some time past steadily advanced in importance. The Gaite, on the other hand, seems emulous of the fame of its neighbour the Theatre National, having brought out an Astley's sort of piece entitled Les Cosaques. A knot of patriotic Frenchmen knock about the Tartar occupants of Champagne, just as half-a-dozen British sailors used to knock about scores of Frenchmen thirty years ago; and Napoleon, back from Elba on his white horse, winds up the whole with an effective tableau.
