THE TORIES AND THE CHURCH.

Oxford, December 1. Sra,—A few weeks ago a correspondent expressed to you his difficulty in deciding how to vote at the next General Election. He was unwilling to vote for a Tory, unwilling also to vote for one who would support a 5/. suffrage in towns.
I should hope that Mr. Disraeli's recent acceptance of the Church policy of Dr. Pusey and the Bishop of Oxford will enable him and others in the same position to make up their minds.
A democratic borough franchise would hardly do so much harm to England, as the Episcopal despotism over all independent thought in the Church which must result if the Tories ever succeed in carrying the proposed change in the Court of Final Appeal.—I
